Description

The 10.5cm leFH 16 auf Gepanzerte Selbstfahrlafette FCM was a German improvised self-propelled artillery piece, created by mounting the First World War-era 10.5cm leichte Feldhaubitze 16 onto a captured French FCM 36 light tank chassis. Following the 1940 campaign in France, the Wehrmacht repurposed numerous French vehicles to bolster its armoured support capabilities, particularly for use in occupied territories and secondary theatres.

This conversion provided mobile firepower in a compact form, offering indirect support to infantry units while retaining some degree of protection and mobility. The FCM 36’s original turret was removed, and the gun was installed in a fixed superstructure, likely with limited traverse and elevation. Armour protection was modest, suitable only against small arms and shrapnel.
