Description

The Bedford QL series was a range of versatile military trucks produced in Britain during the Second World War, serving as a logistical backbone for the British Army. Introduced in 1941, the QL was a 3-ton 4×4 vehicle powered by a 6-cylinder petrol engine, offering reliable performance across varied terrain.

Its design featured a forward-control cab and a robust chassis, making it suitable for multiple roles including troop transport, cargo hauling, fuel delivery, and specialised tasks. Variants included the QLD (general service), QLB (Bofors gun tractor), QLT (troop carrier), QLR (radio vehicle), and the QLC (refueler), among others.

The series was praised for its adaptability and ease of maintenance, with over 52,000 units produced by the end of the war. Bedford QLs were deployed across key theatres such as North Africa, Europe, and the Far East, contributing significantly to Allied mobility and supply chains.
