Description
The Dovunque 35 armoured carrier was an Italian Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) prototype developed during World War II. Based on the chassis of the Dovunque 35 truck, it was designed to meet the Italian military’s need for a protective transport for soldiers. The vehicle featured a 6×4 drive train and a 4.053-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine, producing 55/56hp.
Despite its innovative design, including 8-to-10mm thick flat steel armour and a large angular cab with two-piece doors, the Dovunque 35 was underpowered and never entered mass production. It was employed in limited numbers by the Black Brigades of the Italian Social Republic in 1944.
The APC’s design allowed for up to 10 soldiers to be seated inside, with access through a two-piece rear door. Troops could engage from within the vehicle through loopholes on the sides and rear. Although the final design included a covered transport compartment, existing photographs suggest this feature was not implemented.
