Description
In addition the usual idea of double sided reinforced trenches, reminiscent of WWI, soldiers in WWII would also sometimes create single sided supported entrenchments. These would have an earth bank on the enemy facing side and be strengthened by timber on the defenders side.
During the Pacific campaign, the Japanese would sometimes reverse this and have a sheer face of coconut logs facing the beach, with a sloped earth embankment supporting the rear of the “seawall”.
The overall length of a complete set is approximately 1.2m and comprises:
4x Straight pieces
2x 90° internal corner
2x 90° external corner
1x 45° internal corner
1x 45° external corner
2x finished ends
2x damaged/destroyed ends
1x covered bunker
1x uncovered emplacement
All parts are identical in both sets, except the bunker and emplacement which are either entrenchments style (earth bank on the outside) or seawall style (no earth bank).
