Description
Many armies throughout history have needed a quick but sturdy defence against enemy artillery for their own guns. At its simplest form such a gun pit is just a pile of heaped earth or sandbags with a timber frame and roof. Found across all theatres of operation during WWII, gun pits such as these saved the crew of countless artillery pieces.
