Description

The Latil M7 T1 was a French artillery tractor developed in the 1930s to meet the army’s need for a reliable vehicle capable of towing heavy guns across difficult terrain. Built by Automobiles Industriels Latil, the M7 T1 featured a robust 4×4 all‑wheel‑drive system, reflecting Latil’s pioneering work in four‑wheel drive technology.

Powered by a strong petrol engine, it was designed to operate effectively on rough ground, making it suitable for artillery units that required mobility in varied conditions. The vehicle was primarily used during the early stages of World War II, but production remained limited, and its service was curtailed following France’s defeat in 1940.

Despite its short operational life, the M7 T1 demonstrated the importance of specialised tractors in modern warfare, combining mechanical innovation with military utility.
