Description
The R661 was a reinforced concrete shelter constructed by Nazi Germany as part of the Atlantik Wall coastal defence system during the Second World War. Designed as a casualty collection point or field hospital, it provided protected space for the treatment and temporary care of wounded soldiers near the front lines.
The structure featured thick blast-resistant walls, a gas-tight entrance, and internal rooms for medical staff, stretcher-bearers, and patients. It typically included basic medical facilities such as examination tables, storage for supplies, and bunks or stretchers for the injured.
Strategically located near combat positions yet shielded from direct fire, the R661 enabled rapid triage and stabilisation before evacuation to rear-area hospitals. Its presence reflected the German military’s emphasis on maintaining combat effectiveness by ensuring immediate medical support.
This model has a removable roof and/or floors for access.
Please note that these are designed to be built into terrain, gaming boards and so can be quite deep – please contact us if you require them to be lower to the tabletop and we will shorten them before printing to save material and cost for you.
