Description
The R681 was a reinforced concrete machine gun casemate constructed by Nazi Germany as part of the Atlantik Wall coastal defence system during the Second World War. Designed to house a single MG34 or MG42, it provided protected flanking fire across beaches, access roads, and defensive perimeters.
The structure featured a narrow embrasure for the weapon, allowing a focused field of fire while minimising exposure to enemy fire. Internally, the bunker included space for the gun crew, ammunition storage, and basic operational equipment, with a gas-tight entrance and ventilation system for added protection.
The R681 was typically positioned to support larger bunkers and gun emplacements, covering blind spots and reinforcing infantry positions. Its compact design allowed for rapid construction and flexible deployment across occupied coastal regions.
This model has a removable roof and/or floors for access.
Please note that these are designed to be built into terrain, gaming boards and so can be quite deep – please contact us if you require them to be lower to the tabletop and we will shorten them before printing to save material and cost for you.
