Description

The Sd.Kfz.250 mit 5cm PaK 38 was a German field conversion that combined the light armoured half-track Sd.Kfz.250 with the potent 5cm PaK 38 anti-tank gun. Originally designed as a reconnaissance and command vehicle, the Sd.Kfz.250’s compact chassis and mobility made it a suitable platform for mounting light artillery, particularly in ad-hoc or support roles.

In this variant, the standard troop compartment was modified to accommodate the PaK 38, typically in an open-topped configuration with limited traverse. The gun offered respectable penetration against early Allied armour and was widely used throughout the war. While the Sd.Kfz.250’s light armour provided minimal protection, its off-road capability allowed the weapon to be deployed rapidly in forward areas or ambush positions.
