Semovente 75/18 (Italian)

The Semovente 75/18 was an Italian self propelled gun of World War II, superficially similar to the German StuG. Built on the chassis of a M13/40, M14/41 or M15/42 medium tank, they were maneuverable, relatively well armoured and had a reasonable speed. The main armament of a 75/18 artillery gun meant that their role differed from that of the StuG in that Semovente was also used as divisional artillery rather than purely as an assault gun.

The Semovente was also capable of fulfilling an anti-tank role as well, due to the fact that the HEAT round of the 75/18 was capable of destroying the Allied tanks of the desert (including the Sherman) at 500m.

After Italy surrendered, the 75/18 continued to see use in the German army both as captured units and now production.
