Description
The French AMR 35, a light reconnaissance tank developed by Renault in the mid-1930s, was a significant upgrade from its predecessor, the AMR 33. It featured a lengthened chassis and a rear-mounted engine for better performance.
The AMR 35 variants included –
– Avis 1 and 2 command vehicles equipped with a 7.5 mm machine gun
– ADF1 infantry support tank with a short-barreled 25 mm gun.
– TSF radio command tank,
– ZT2 fitted with the long barrelled 25 mm SA35 L/47 gun
– ZT3 tank destroyer fitted with the same gun as the ZT2 but mounted in a limited traverse fitting in the hull.
These tanks saw action during World War II, although their impact was limited by the rapid German advance during the Battle of France.
