Canadian C15A light truck (British)

Description

The Canadian C15A was a 15-hundredweight (CWT) truck used extensively by the Canadian Army during World War II. It was part of the Canadian Military Pattern (CMP) truck series, which played a vital role in the war effort. Manufactured by Ford and Chevrolet, the C15A was designed for general service, capable of transporting troops, supplies, and equipment across various terrains.

The C15A featured four-wheel drive, making it highly maneuverable and reliable in challenging conditions. It was equipped with a 216 cubic inch, 6-cylinder engine, producing 85 horsepower, allowing it to reach speeds of up to 74 km/h (46 mph). The truck was built with interchangeable parts, ensuring ease of maintenance and repairs in the field.

Used by Commonwealth forces, the C15A was deployed in Europe, North Africa, and the Pacific, supporting operations in multiple theatres. Many were later provided as aid to war-ravaged nations, with some remaining in service into the 1990s.
