Canadian C15TA APC (British)

Description

The Canadian C15TA Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) was developed during World War II as a robust transport vehicle for troops and equipment. Built by General Motors Canada, it was based on the Chevrolet C15A chassis, a widely used Canadian Military Pattern (CMP) truck. The C15TA was designed to replace the White M3 Scout Car, offering better protection and mobility for personnel.

Produced between 1943 and 1945, approximately 3,961 units were manufactured in Oshawa, Ontario, with armoured hulls supplied by Hamilton Bridge. Unlike the Otter Light Reconnaissance Car, the C15TA was not intended for scouting but rather for troop transport. It was deployed in France, Italy, and Northwest Europe, proving its reliability in combat zones.

After the war, the C15TA remained in service with multiple nations, including Belgium, Greece, Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, South Vietnam, South Africa, Malaya, Portugal, and Mozambique. Its durability and commonality of parts with other CMP trucks ensured its longevity.
