Canadian C60L truck (British)

Description

The Canadian C60L was a 60-hundredweight (CWT) truck used extensively during World War II as part of the Canadian Military Pattern (CMP) truck series. Manufactured by Chevrolet and Ford, it was designed for heavy-duty transport, capable of carrying large loads and supporting various military operations.

The C60L featured a 4×4 drivetrain, making it highly effective in off-road conditions. It was powered by a 270 cubic inch, 6-cylinder engine, providing 104 horsepower, ensuring reliability in demanding environments. The truck was used for cargo transport, troop movement, and specialized roles, including ambulance and workshop configurations.

Deployed by Commonwealth forces, the C60L played a crucial role in European, North African, and Pacific campaigns. Its rugged construction and adaptability made it a valuable asset in wartime logistics. After the war, many C60L trucks remained in service, with some repurposed for civilian use.
