Hitler Youth (German)

Description

The Hitlerjugend (Hitler Youth) was the youth wing of the Nazi Party. It was the sole official boys youth organisation in Germany from 1936-45 and also functioned as paramilitary group. Aged 14-18 the members were taught Nazi ideology as well as weapons handling and tactics, though the age range was broadened as the war progressed. Along with Volkssturm and other militia groups, the Hitler Youth from the age of 12 were used by Germany as troops in the latter half of the war with them participating in Battle of Berlin and other major conflicts. They were even involved in wartime atrocities such as executions and shooting POWs.
