Description
This Soviet adaptation of the M‑72 motorcycle mounted a small infantry mortar on the sidecar, creating a mobile fire support platform. Designed to enhance rapid deployment of indirect fire, it allowed crews to reposition quickly across difficult terrain. The vehicle’s sturdy frame handled the added weight, though firing required careful stabilisation and reduced accuracy compared to tripod‑mounted mortars. Despite these limitations, the combination offered valuable flexibility for reconnaissance units and forward observers. Its ability to deliver quick, surprise bombardments made it useful in fluid Eastern Front engagements, where mobility and improvisation often shaped tactical outcomes.
