Description
The Type 1 47mm anti-tank gun was developed by Japan during WWII and first introduced in 1942. It is a low profile weapon with a gun shield, ideal for ambushing and concealment.
Compared to some other Japanese weapon designs, the Type 1 was quite modern, though not as advanced as some Western designs. A minor error was made in concept though, as it was created in the belief that Allied forces would only deploy light tanks in battle. However, despite this, the AP rounds of the Type 1 were capable of penetrating the frontal armour of a Sherman at up to 800 yards, though in reality an attack was made at much shorter range for accuracy.
