Description
The L3/35 (and it’s variant such as the L3 Lf) was a light tank originally based on the British Carden-Lloyd carrier and developed in 1933 (as the L3/33). The L3/35 replaced the single MG of the 33 with a pair of 8mm MGs. A small and very light vehicle, the L3/35 extensive use by many countries in the Austrian Civil War, Second Sino-Japanese War, Second Italo-Abyssinian War, Spanish Civil War, Greco-Italian War, Slovak–Hungarian War, Invasion of Albania and the Anglo-Iraqi War. It also saw service in the Western Desert during WWII.
The L3 Lf was a variant of the original L3/35, and replaced one of the MGs with a flame thrower. Similarly to the Churchill Crocodile, the L3 Lf towed it’s fuel in a trailer, though later models had tanks fitted to the vehicle itself. Their use was as widespread as that of the L3/35.
