M-30 medium howitzer – winter (Soviet)

Description

The M1938 M-30 was a 122mm calibre medium howitzer used by the Soviet Union during WWII. It generally served as a divisional gun, and captured examples were also used by the Wehermacht and the Finnish army. It was a reasonably well liked weapon that was reliable and had good reputation.

Post WWII, it continued to be in conflicts well into the late 20th century. This has led to the claim that the M1938 howitzer “must, surely, be the most prolific piece of artillery in history”.
