M11/39 medium tank (Italian)

Description

A (M)edium tank of 11 tons, and adopted in 1939, the M11/39 was one of the tanks that gave Italian armour a bad press. Under powered, lightly armoured and with a weak 37mm hull mounted AT gun, the M11/39 was almost obsolete before it saw combat. These shortcomings were amplified by the fact that the principle battles where the M11/39 tank was present, it faced British Matilda II tanks which it could not penetrate at any reasonable range while the guns of the British tanks could easily destroy the Italian armour.
