Description

The M18 Hellcat was a highly effective American tank destroyer used during World War II. Renowned for its speed, it held the record as the fastest U.S. armoured fighting vehicle of the war. Designed by Buick and officially known as the 76 mm Gun Motor Carriage M18, the Hellcat entered service in 1944.

The Hellcat’s primary mission was to engage and destroy enemy tanks. It was equipped with a powerful 76mm M1A1 gun, capable of penetrating enemy armour. The vehicle’s light armour and open-topped turret design sacrificed protection for increased speed and agility. The Hellcat could reach speeds of up to 55 miles per hour (88 km/h), enabling it to outmanoeuvre most German tanks.
