Marder III Ausf.M – Sd.Kfz.138 (German)

Description

The Marder III Ausf. M was a German tank destroyer built on the Czech Panzer 38(t) chassis. It mounted the 7.5cm PaK 40 in a rear‑mounted fighting compartment, improving crew protection compared to earlier Marder variants. Light armour and an open top left it vulnerable, but its mobility and firepower made it effective against Allied armour when used from concealed positions. The Ausf. M served widely on the Eastern Front and in Western Europe, providing an economical solution to Germany’s need for mobile anti‑tank weapons. It remained in service until the war’s end.
