The Mercedes 170 V, introduced in 1936, was one of the company’s most important pre‑war models and became its best‑selling car of the era. Powered by a reliable 1.7‑litre four‑cylinder engine, it offered solid performance, economical running, and a comfortable ride. Its sturdy ladder‑frame chassis made it suitable for both civilian and military use, including staff cars and ambulances during the Second World War. After the war, production resumed, helping Mercedes‑Benz rebuild its reputation and operations. The 170 V’s durability, practicality, and wide range of body styles made it a cornerstone of the brand’s early automotive success.
