Description

The Opel Blitz ambulance bus was a large, purpose‑built medical transport vehicle used by the German military during the Second World War. Based on the widely deployed Opel Blitz truck chassis, it featured an extended, bus‑style body designed to carry multiple wounded soldiers at once. Its spacious interior allowed for several stretchers and seated patients, making it suitable for mass casualty evacuation from front‑line areas to field hospitals. Though not heavily armoured or fast, it was valued for its reliability and capacity. The ambulance bus played a practical role in sustaining German medical logistics, helping move casualties efficiently across the European theatre.
