Description
The 12.8 cm Pak 44 was a German heavy anti-tank gun developed during World War II. Designed by Krupp in response to encounters with Soviet 122 mm guns, it was intended to counter heavy Soviet armour like the IS-2.
The Pak 44 fired 128 mm shells, including armour-piercing and high-explosive rounds, with a maximum range of 24,410 meters. Despite its impressive firepower, the gun’s weight (over 10 tons) made it difficult to deploy. Approximately 51 units were produced, and it was also mounted on vehicles like the Jagdtiger tank destroyer
