Description
The Renault B1 was a French heavy tank, renowned for its significant role during the interwar period and early stages of World War II. Designed primarily as a breakthrough tank for trench warfare, it was heavily armoured and equipped with a 75 mm howitzer in the hull and a 47 mm gun in the turret.
The B2 Flammenwerfer, officially known as the Flammwagen auf Panzerkampfwagen B2(f), was a German flamethrower tank used during World War II. It was based on the captured French Char B1 bis tank chassis. The vehicle was equipped with a flamethrower in place of the hull-mounted 75mm gun, making it effective for close-quarters combat and clearing fortified positions. The B2 Flammenwerfer saw action on the Eastern Front and in other theatres. However, mechanical issues limited its effectiveness. Despite these drawbacks, it played a role in Germany’s efforts to adapt captured equipment for their war needs
