Description
The S307(f) was a German designation for captured French Somua MCG half‑tracks converted for various roles, including troop transport, towing, and mounting weapons. Germany valued the vehicle for its good cross‑country mobility and robust construction. Many were fitted with anti‑tank guns, rocket launchers, or used as command vehicles. They served mainly in occupation units, security formations, and later in Normandy with the 21st Panzer Division. The S307(f) exemplified German improvisation, turning captured equipment into useful battlefield assets despite limited spare parts and inconsistent mechanical reliability.
