Sd.Kfz.231 8-rad (German)

Description

The Sd.Kfz. 231 was an eight‑wheeled heavy armoured car used for reconnaissance. Its excellent mobility, long range, and radio equipment made it ideal for deep scouting missions. Armed with a 2cm cannon and machine gun, it could engage light targets but relied on speed rather than armour for survival. The 231 served in Poland, France, North Africa, and the Eastern Front, providing valuable intelligence for German commanders. Its dual‑driver system allowed rapid direction changes, enhancing manoeuvrability. Although eventually outclassed, it remained an important reconnaissance vehicle throughout much of the war.
