Description
The Skoda 100/17 howitzer was a WWI vintage mountain gun initially used by Austria-Hungary. It was however captured or licensed by multiple countries and was also used by the Turkish, German, Czech and Italian forces. Being a mountain gun, it was easily portable and could be split into three sections to allow for transportation by horses in rough terrain.
The Italian used a lighter shell and thus attained a greater range and muzzle velocity. It was a reliable gun and formed the bulk of Italy’s artillery strength during WWII.
