The StuG III Sturmi tank holds a unique place in military history, particularly within the context of Finland’s involvement in World War II. Interestingly, the Sturmi, as it was affectionately known in Finland, was not originally intended for the Finnish army. However, due to the pressing demands of war and Finland’s strategic alliance with Germany, a total of 30 StuG III Ausf. Gs were delivered to the Finnish forces in 1943. These tanks quickly became an integral part of Finland’s armoured strength.
