Description
The Type 23 pillbox was one of the standard defensive strongpoints built in England during WWII to counter the anticipated German invasion. It was a split design, with an enclosed area for riflemen and an open area with a light AA mount such as a Bren gun. These are rectangular in shape and generally have loopholes in 3 or 4 of the walls. Access can be a little unusual, as often there was no open entrance and access was via a ladder. The Type 23 was built from both concrete and bricks.
In order to aid with placing models inside, this is designed without an interior blast wall, and with a removable roof. A pintle-mounted Bren gun and separate ladder are also supplied.
NOTE: the 15mm version has an integral ladder; not an open, separate piece.
Regional and other variations are also possible, please contact us for further information or with specific requests.
