V1 Launch Site

Description

The V1 flying bomb was the first of the German Vergeltungswaffen (Vengeance Weapons) and was designed to rain terror on British cities, primarily London.

Initially developed at the start of the war, the first V-1 was launched a week after the D-Day landings. Their use was rapidly increased, until a peak of over 100 a hundred being launch. In total over 9500 were used against Britain between June-October 1944, when the last site in range was overrun by Allied forces.

An additional 2448 were launched during the remainder of the war, at various sites in Belgium, until these sites were also captured in March 1945.

These may be sourced from a different designer to the one noted above and the model may differ in details such as lacking camo netting, stowage, having a chunkier weapon barrel, tracks etc.
