Description
The Unic P107 was a French halftrack developed in the 1930s to provide mobility for artillery and mechanised units. Designed by Citroën and later produced by Unic, it was based on the earlier Citroën-Kégresse halftrack system, which used flexible rubber tracks combined with front steering wheels.
The P107 was intended as an artillery tractor and transport vehicle, capable of towing medium guns such as the 75 mm field gun while carrying troops or equipment. Powered by a four‑cylinder petrol engine, it offered modest speed but excellent cross‑country performance, making it suitable for rough terrain.
By 1940, around 3,000 units had been built, serving with French forces during the Battle of France. After the armistice, many were captured and reused by the German army, often converted into specialised vehicles such as radio trucks or armoured carriers.
