Description
The Armadillo Mk.III was an improvised British self‑propelled gun created during the invasion scare of 1940. Built on a civilian truck chassis, it carried a 2‑pounder or similar light gun within a crude armoured box made from steel and wood. Protection was minimal, but the design allowed rapid production using available materials. Intended for airfield defence and Home Guard use, it provided mobile firepower against light armour and potential airborne threats.
