Description
The German SdKfz 221 was a light armoured reconnaissance vehicle deployed during World War II, first produced in 1935. Built on a four-wheel drive Horch chassis, it featured sloped armour up to 14.5mm thick, offering protection against small-arms fire and shrapnel. Weighing about 4.8 tons, it carried a two-man crew and a Panzerbusche in a small turret. Reaching speeds of 80 km/h on roads and 40 km/h off-road, it had a range of 300–350 km. Primarily used for scouting, communications, and light infantry support, the SdKfz 221 was eventually supplanted by more heavily armed vehicles but saw continuous service on European, Eastern, and North African fronts.
