September News – new Allied models and our first trade show!

Well – August was a busy month and September is headed that way as well!

Since we updated the website and added all the new products, they have been flying off the printers all month! However, we are content to stop there and have continued adding more through August with more on the way in September.

Border Reivers Show

Firstly, an exciting and bit of news for us – we are attending our first trade show this weekend! That’s right, we’ll be hosting a stall in person at the Border Reivers Wargames Show held at the Gateshead International Stadium. So, if you’re local and want to meet the chaps behind MarDav – and maybe pick up a bargain (there’ll be discounts!) then pop along and say hi.

New Allied Models

So, what new goodies have we added to the product range?

To begin with, the British have received some Home Front reinforcements in the force of improvised vehicles such as the AEC Armoured Bus and the Tilly radio truck, along with artillery support from the Blacker Bombard, Smith Gun and Northover Projector. If Jerry invades now, he won’t know what hit him!

The British Army has not been forgotten either. On the other side of the pond the Yanks have been hard at work, allowing the Staghound Mk I, II and III to join the fray, alongside a range of Willys Jeeps equipped with either .30 or .50 calibre machine guns and the M5A1 halftrack.

US factories have not just been helping the Limeys though – they’ve also found the time to aid their own war effort as well. Rolling off the production lines have been a whole host of light trucks with the Dodge WC 51, 52, 56, 57 and 58 ready to hit the front!

Further Allied reinforcements have been sighted in Soviet armies as well, with more lend lease Willys Jeeps from the US. As with the Brits, these are available as a standard transports as well as equipped with a .30 or .50 calibre machine gun. The Soviet factories haven’t been quiet either, with the T-60 making an appearance in multiple forms, including the standard T-60, an up-armoured variant and the multiple rocket battery toting BM-8-24 Katyusha.

Finally, do not fret Monsieur! The French have not been forgotten! The iconic Laffly has arrived with the V15T, S15R recon truck (and radio command variant) and S15T artillery tractor all rolling up, alongside a dedicated horse drawn limber for the 25mm Hotchkiss anti-tank gun.

As you can see – a lot of new models and options have been added to MarDav’s store in the last month, and we are continuing to increase the range through September and beyond!

The Big Push! – massive website update!

If you’ve been following us for a while, you may have heard rumblings about something big coming – well, today it has landed!

Over the last month we have been working diligently in the background to tweak the website and add a massive range of new products – including a huge amount from a new designer!

There have been many changes, and rather than making everyone traipse through the site seeing what’s new, here’s a full summary…….

New models!

Firstly, we have to tell you about the new models. We are always looking to expand our range with awesome new designs and this time around we have an absolute corker of a collection from RKX Miniatures, Comprising the entirety of RKX’s various Kickstarter campaigns, MarDav can now offer all manner of Canadian and US troops, Fallschirmjager and Commandos including such gems as the Kettenkrad, Long Tom and Sexton!

New Prices!

Additionally, we have revised our pricing structure, which means a lot of models are now actually cheaper than before! Also, due to demand, we have added more scale options to virtually all models, allowing almost everything on the site to be purchased at 54mm/1:35, and many vehicles at 15mm, 1/87 and 1:48 (always a good thing for some of the 28mm tankers among you 😉 )

New options!

As a good number of our range also had many available options – I’m looking at you StuGs, PzIVs and Churchills – we have split them into their own products to make navigating easier. You can now simply search for “StuG III” and see all available options instead of scrolling through menus.

New images!

Now, adding all these new variations with painted images would be a mammoth task, and even as Dav badgered away on the website, there was no time for Mar to keep up with the stream of new models (he tried, but his brush nearly caught fire!), so with some of the new releases we are using renders for the time being. Ultimately we would still hope to supplement as many as possible with more lovely painted models, but it will take time.

As you can see, there has been a lot going on, but this is just the start. There is a whole bunch more terrain on the way, including two entire new village bundles; many, many more vehicles and options to add, and a swathe of new Army Builders and Platoons over the summer so that everyone can get some even better deals on the new models!

NEW – German tows!

I know you’re probably had enough of German vehicles from us recently, but this will be the last one for a while – I promise!

This time around we are supplying the front with tows and transportation. First up is the Hanomag SS 100 artillery tractor – capable of towing the feared 88 or even a V2 rocket! Next we have the Sd.Kfz 10 – a sturdy workhorse half-track that handles the smaller artillery pieces as well as carrying their crew. The Opel Blitz is an iconic WWII vehicle, and along with the fuel tanker variant could soon be ferrying troops and fuel across your battlefields. Finally we have Sd.Kfz 252– an armoured half-track ammunition carrier with a trailer for extra ammo!

These are all available in a range of scales from 1/87 up to 1/35, but other scales can also be produced – just ask!

Stay tuned for something completely new (and big!) next week – and I promise it is not just more German vehicles!

NEW – More German armour!

Today’s release sees the Germans receive some much additional armoured support in the form of various assault guns.

Expanding on the range of StuG variants we already have, we have now added the StuG III Flammpanzer, StuG IV, StuG 33B and the mighty StuH 42.

These are all available in 20mm and 28mm, but other scales can also be produced – just ask!

NEW – German tank destroyers

Today’s release sees the Germans receive some much needed anti-armour support in the form of assorted tank destroyers. As well as lighter tanks such as the Jagdpanzer IV L/48 and L/70 variants and the Hetzer, there is also the powerful Jagdpanther – capable of defeating any deploy Allied armour.

These are all available in 20mm and 28mm, but other scales can also be produced – just ask!

NEW – Soviet Naval and NKVD Infantry

This release sees the introduction of some new infantry options for the Soviets. We have often been asked about NKVD troops and here they are along with Naval troops!

NKVD SMG Squad / Rifle Squad

The NKVD (or “People’s Commissariat for Internal Affairs”) was an internal politicised police force in the Soviet Union from 1934 to 1946. Well known for conducting the Great Purge and mass deportations to of “undesirables” to the Gulags, troops of the NKVD also served alongside the Red Army during the defence of cities such as Stalingrad and Moscow.

Naval SMG Squad / Rifle Squad

During WWII, much of the Soviet’s sea power was contained by the advancing Germans. This meant that the fleets of the Black Sea and Baltic were largely unable to contribute to the war effort. Battleships were sometimes used as artillery and anti-aircraft platforms if they were close enough to ongoing fighting, but many were simply redundant. In both cases, ships were often stripped back to a skeleton crew, and the majority of the crew deployed as ground troops. In this over 350,000 Red Navy sailors were redeployed as infantrymen.

NEW – Eastern Front Germans

This release is the start of a line of Eastern Front German designed by the amazing Just Some Miniatures, and to say they’re something awesome is not an exaggeration! It’s been incredibly difficult prying these excellent models from Martin’s hands long enough to photograph them all

Starting with the German invasion of the Soviet Union on 22nd June 1941 (Operation Barbarossa), the Eastern Front lasted for the remainder of the war until 8th May 1945. Encompassing the invasion of the Caucasus (Case Blue), the Battle of Kursk, Siege of Stalingrad many more famous incidents of the war, it ended with the Soviet push into Berlin and subsequent surrender of the German forces. It is estimated that 75-80% of all combat during WWII took place on the Eastern Front.

The sheer amount length of time it lasted, the terrain involved and the range of forces arrayed against each other, means that sooner or later almost any vehicle, artillery or infantry fielded by either the Soviets or Germans saw action. We covered some of these last year with our focus of Soviet and German vehicles that fought at Kursk, and now we expand with a range of cavalry and infantry suitable for your Eastern Front battles.

First up are some fast moving cavalry, with both an officer team and two troops available – a rifle armed squad with a supporting MG42, and an assault squad armed with STG44s and an MP40. These are then followed by three separate infantry options – a 10 man rifle squad with a pair of MG42s, a 5 man assault squad with SMGs and an STG44, and a deadly 5 man support squad with two MG42 machine guns. Finally, some anti-armour capability is offered with a two man Panzerschreck team.

However, this is just the start of rolling out new German models, in the coming weeks look out for vehicles, heavy guns, more cavalry and more infantry alongside and assortment of support teams……

NEW – US Halftracks

In this release we are rounding out our selection of halftracks for US forces. In this bundle of 8 vehicles, half are new releases and half are updates to older models.

As well as the standard transport variants with the M2 and M3, we also have howitzer support from the T12, T19 and T30, anti-aircraft capabilities with the M15 and M16 and a mobile mortar carrier with the M4.

NEW – French, German and US Armoured cars

In this release we are rounding out the armoured cars for the French, German and US forces. The French gain another personnel carrier in the form of the Panhard 179, alongside the 1930s Panhard 165 / 175 armoured car.

For the Germans, they can now field the famous SdKfz 234/2 Puma as well as it’s less famous sibling – the 234/1. The Austrian Steyr ADGZ (as used by the Waffen SS) is also available as is the SdKfz 247B command car.

Finally, as we start to increase the variety of our US range, we have introduced the M8 Greyhound and M20 armoured cars to aid the Americans.

NEW – Italian Semovente variants

Painted 28mm resin 3D printed model of World War II Italian Semovente 105/25.

In this release we are rounding our Italian armoured support with the introduction of three new Semovente variants as well as updated models for some existing Semovente options. The new introductions are the 47/32 with a light AT gun, the 75/32 armed with a howitzer, and the 75/46 equipped with a powerful 75mm AA gun used as a AT gun!

New models have also replaced the Semovente 75/18 and 75/34.

All of these variants can now be found together on one handy product page.
